| 3. | Plan a get-together with some of their friends. |
| 4. | Invite your student to prepare a typical meal from their country in your kitchen occasionally (be sure to provide the ingredients). |
| 5. | Do things with-not for students. |
| 6. | Invite your student to go for a drive or your favorite sightseeing place. |
| 7. | Invite your student to sporting events, community events, or other informal gatherings. |
| 8. | Take your student on a family weekend-example: camping. |
| 9. | Obtain the home address of the students family. |
| 10. | Attend campus related events in which your international friend is interested. |
| 11. | Introduce your student to your other friends. |
| 12. | You may wish to invite your student to church or other community organizations of which you are a part. However, be very sensitive to your student in this area. Students may be uncomfortable in attending a church or religious activity as it may compromise their beliefs or traditions. Ask the student about the major religions in their country and learn about their religious paractices. Do not attempt to force your religious beliefs on the student. |

| 14. | Always remember, he/she is the child of another family from across the world. Remember how you would like your child treated if they were studying in another country. |
